Our Vision for P.E. at Cranford Park CE Primary School
“You are never really playing an opponent. You are playing yourself, your own highest standards, and when you reach your limits, that is real joy.” – Arthur Ashe
At Cranford Park CE Primary School everybody enjoys indoor and outdoor P.E. and children are very active and engaged throughout. Lessons are adapted as required to ensure that all children can access the curriculum.
Qualified sports coaches deliver the outside P.E. provision while class teachers deliver the indoor. An extensive field and marked playground along with high quality resources ensure that our clear progression of skills can be taught effectively. There is regular financial input into resources and we have a well-stocked P.E. shed.
A wealth of sports are taught including golf, cricket, badminton and rugby. A range of additional sports, such as skipping, athletics and basketball are taught by external providers in annual events. Gymnastics and Dance are taught to a high standard. Every child from Year 3 onwards receives swimming lessons until they are able to meet the required standards when they are presented with a certificate in assembly.
Staff and pupils engage in a range of extra-curricular activities including football and judo. The school competes in local competitions and engages with local clubs. The school participates in a range of sports, including the District athletics event in a local stadium.
Children are encouraged to be active during playtimes and lunchtimes. All year groups have a bag of resources to use, including ropes, balls, hoop, pompoms and beanbags. In addition, children have access to table tennis tables, climbing equipment and basketball hoops.
Parents are engaged through events including our presentation of dance at our Summer Arts Festival and our annual sports day, which combines teamwork with competitive sport.
